Nostalgia for the 90s

This fashion is probably the most striking of the beginning of this year: when browsing through pages of freshly released printed clothing, it is impossible to ignore the invasion of smileys, retro cartoon characters, colors vitamins and tributes to high-tech objects of the time. The kids of the 90's have grown up and want to honor their first memories: it seems to be a matter of course. This trend is so important that we have dedicated an article to it, which you can read here:

How to embrace the retro 90's trend in 2022?
A pinch of pop culture, a handful of exaggerated proportions, a barrel of saturated colors : we give you step-by-step instructions on how to join this vitamin-packed party.

Scribbles

What are these doodles, more precisely?

They are this kind of abstract drawings, quite innocent and unpretentious, that you can scribble on a post-it note in the middle of a daydream.
This graphic style simply exudes carefreeness, youth and originality. It's usually very fresh, simple, perfect to stand out without overdoing it.

Expressive lettering

Fonts, while seemingly more functional than decorative, are proving to be a real pillar of the graphic design universe: the choice of a font can itself say a lot about a message or a brand's identity. Some designers will push this concept to the max: this is what we are seeing in early 2022 with the BIG trend of expressive lettering. These movement-filled fonts blend content and form to get their message across in the most conceptual way possible, and we like it (a lot)!

Bubble design

With its light illustrations and its rounded writings with the appearance of bubbles (hence its name), here is a graphic trend that seems to have been unearthed from the borders of our childhood memories. This is mainly due to the fact that the rounded writing fonts symbolize a certain softness, by their absence of right angles. The choice of the palettes of this movement is often audacious, acidulous or pastel, but always high incolors. We strongly advise you to play the game of this rich, childlike and deeply refreshing universe.

Art Deco

Much, much more vintage than the 90's trend mentioned above, the art deco style has its roots in the 1920's. The festive atmosphere of the "Roaring Twenties", colors metallic inspiring opulence, geometrically straight and neat illustrations of urban landscapes in the early days of industrialization ... All these graphic codes are becoming more and more numerous and confirm that the art deco movement seems to be making a comeback.

The psychedelic atmosphere

In case you had any doubts, it's official: this year, graphic design is determined to take us back in time. With this latest trend, we're back in the late 60s, ready to hit the road for the Woodstock festival. Distorted typographies, colors , acidulous illustrations, nature theme (mushrooms, flowers and plants of all kinds): after a period under the sign of distancing, this movement celebrates nature, party and joy of living. Just what we needed!
